Technology And Case Study On Implementation Of Clean Development Mechanism Project In Cement Industry

Kyoto Protocol had been taken effect, which, we believed, could better prevent from getting our globe warmer and warmer. Clean Development Mechanism(CDM) is one of three flexible mechanisms which achieve greenhouse gases emission reduction stated in the Protocol .Cement industry is now been considered as a major contributor for the CO₂ emission in China. There is high market potential to implement CDM project and it will eventually improve technology for China cement industry and significantly promote sustainable development as well.There are some results with regard to the CDM research in China. However, it is still at very early stage in the filed of CDM implementation in China cement industry: no thorough and systematical analysis for the CO₂ emission during cement production; few quantified analysis; no diversity for the types of CDM projects implementation; and limited case studies for cement industry on CDM project implementation. It will be very important to analyze and quantify CO₂ emission in cement industry so that it can provide the guideline for cement industry on CDM project implementation practically and theoretically.Based on the global study on clean development mechanism and the practice of cement production in China, Emission of CO₂ in cement industry was classified to be direct and indirect and the definition was made. The two ways of emission was thoroughly studied and quantified to get the formula. The emission reduction technology which have ten items was explored from each way, including technology and equipment in cement production, frame of material consumption, structure of the product, energy expenditure and so on and all these technologies were compared with each other. The case study was carried out in some cement companies in Nanjing city. The technology of emission reduction was applied and baseline definition of CO₂ emission in cement industry was primarily studied.This theoretical and practical study was contributed to apply CDM projects in cement industry in China.
