The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Gd-Fe-Sb ternarysystem at 773K has been investigated mainly by X-ray powder diffractionin this work. This isothermal section consists of twelve single-phaseregions, twenty-one two-phase regions and ten three-phase regions. The twelve single-phase regions are: A(Gd),B(FezGd),C(Fe3Gd),D(Fe17Gd2),E(Fe),F(FeSb),G(FeSb2),H(Sb),I(Gd16Sb39),J(GdSb),K(Gd4Sb3) and L (Gd5Sb3).The twenty-one two-phase regions are: A+B,B+C,C+D,D+E,E+F,F+G,G+H,H+I,I+J,J+K,K+L,L+A,L+B,L+C,L+D,K+D,K+E,J+E,J+F,J+G and I+G.The ten three-phase regions are: A+B+L,B+C+L,C+D+L,D+K+L,D+E+K,E+K+J,E+F+J,F+J+G,G+I+J and H+I+G.According to the results of experiment, A solid soluble region ofε(FeSb) phase is observed. The homogeneity range ofε(FeSb) phaseextended from about 44at.% Fe to 46at.% Fe, The maximum solidsolubility of Gd inεphase is about less than 1at.% Gd. The solid solubilityof other phases have not been observed. FeGdSb2 and other compoundshave not been observed on this isothermal section.
