For the necessity of auto's welding and assemble, mostly all of automobile panels have the flanging forming. And the flanging form's precision directly beers that of the panel's final forming. Therefore reasonably assuring the flanging process parameters to improve the flanging forming capacity has an important guiding significance for designing and manufacturing auto panels.Based on previous studies of flanging, the factors that influence the quality of flanging were the in-depth studied in this paper. Presently researches on the flanging only are focus on flanging geometric tools in the planar flanging processes and the influence on flanging forming capacity from the trimming line's position, however, rarely on the curved flanging forming.At the beginning this paper theoretically analyses the forming processes, distortion characters and reasons in producing panel's wrinkling and cracking defects in the curved flanging forming procedure. And then based on DYNAFORM, lots of researches have been done on factors that influence the flanging forming quantity. During those factors more attention has been put on process parameters influencing curved flanging forming, such as binder force, die clearance, fraction-lubrication conditions and radii of convex round corners, and revealing their influencing trend. With the orthogonal trial,optimization has been taken to the flanging process paramtters by their influencing trend. Finally, by use of the orthogonal trial, optimization has been taken to the flanging process parameters in the part rear-wheel cover so as to realize the purpose of improving its flanging forming capacity.This paper mainly includes: 1) analyzing the strain and stress and interpreting the reasons for wrinkling and cracking defects in flanging forming; 2) analyzing how different process parameters influence the flanging forming quantity, and revealing their influencing trend; 3) filtrating the process parameters by use of the orthogonal trials to realize the optimization of flanging forming quantity. Aiming at above contents, we have designed several schemes to make sure the rear-wheel cover's flanging process and its main process parameters by mass analysis of simulation data and by use of the orthogonal trials. Finally, by trials it has been shown that the flanging process parameters after optimization basically make the wrinkling and crack things disappear, and indeed improve the forming function.
