The paper choosed six kinds of socks as subjects for study, such as cotton/spandex, cotton, polyamide spandex, cotton/polyamide, polyester/polyamide and polyamide.The study contents and results obtained were as follows:1. The stretch performance of the tops in low stress condition(including tensibility and elasticity) were performed on the YG065H-250 type material testing system. It mainly studied the influence of different fabric, construction, density on the tensibility of the tops in low stress condition, the tensibility of the tops directly depended on the fabric tensible character. The density of tops had a negative relativity to the tensibility. Ribwork tops had better tensible performance than interleaver tops,but lower elasticity than interleaver tops. The density of tops more depended on the loop length of them. it obtained the regression formula such as Y= 84.239×e-0.473X(X was loop length when the underlay yarn transported at 795mm/s speed, Y was the stretch load when the stretch rate was 50%).2. It measured the size of right and left leg circumference of the region(5cm up anklebone), height and weight values by using 100 female and 100 male as subjects. By Two Related Samples analysis, it got the rusults that the sizes of right and left leg circumference were almost the same, height and weight had relations to leg circumference(correlation is 0.712 for height, 0.900 for weight). So weight had more influence on leg circumference than height.3. The pressure values of the tops were measured with a clothing pressure measurement device (AMI TECHNO Co. Ltd). It studied the factors of wearing time, leg circumference and socks size influenced on the pressure value. The pressure value of tops would decrease with wearing time increased. When keeping wearing time for two hours, the pressure value would get stable. Leg circumference had positive relation with the pressure value, however with which socks size had negative relation.4. The relation between the pressure value of the tops and the stretch load of the tops in low stress condition were investigated and the regression formula was Y=0.705+0.227X (X was the stretch load, Y was the pressure value of tops).5. By building the subjective evaluation scale, it measured the subjective evaluation value of compressive feeling in three different time and found the compressive feeling would change with wearing time. The rule of changing was that the compressive feeling would get lower at first, then reached a stable state.6. The pressure value and the stretch load had relation to the subjective evaluation of compressive feeling. The correlation was 0.790 for stretch load, 0.769 for pressure value. So the stretch load value would have more influence on compressive feeling than pressure value.7. the stretch load range in comfort pressure feeling was 3.90N~5.20N for male, 2.90N~4.05N for female.
