By orthogonal experiment, the technics of modification of actived carbon bymicrowave heating and desorption of CS2 from modified active carbon(MAC) wereinvestigated in a bench scale. The optimal craft condition was got, the influencefactors of the CS2 adsorption capacity of MAC and the desorption of CS2 from MACwere analysed respectively. The experiment results of modification of active carbon shew that the mainfactors which affected the modification were the power of microwave, the radiationtime, the highness and diameter of adsorption column. The most important factoraffecting the CS2 adsorption capacity of MAC was the power of microwave, theradiation time, the diameter of adsorption column, the highness of adsorption columnorderly. The larger adsorption capacity was obtained using higher power ofmicrowave. The adsorption capacity could be improved with prolongation ofradiation time, but this trend would stopped after four or five minutes continuouslyradiating. The influence of the highness and diameter of adsorption column to theadsorption capacity wasn't obvious. The optimal craft condition was as follows: thepower of microwave was 560w, the radiation time was 5min, the highness anddiameter of adsorption column was 110mm and 40mm respectively. The experiment results of desorption of CS2 from MAC indicated that the mainfactors which affected the desorption were the flux of carder gas(N2), thepower ofmicrowave, the highness and diameter of adsorption column. The mostimportantfactor affecting the maximal concentration of CS2 in cartier gas was the flux of carriergas, the power of microwave, the highness of adsorption column, the diameter ofadsorption column orderly. The higher the power of microwave, the higher was themaximal concentration of CS2 in carrier gas, andthis was same to the reclamation ratioof CS2.With the augment of the flux ofcarder gas, the maximal concentration of CS2would fell, but the reclamation ratio of CS2 would increase. The optimal craftcondition of desorption of CS2 from MAC was as follows: the power of microwavewas 300w, the flux of cartier gas was 0.1m3/h, the highness and diameter ofadsorption column was 110mm and 60mm respectively. The desorption process ofCS2 accorded with the first order kinetics model, and the rate constant rose with theincrease of microwave power and the flux of carrier gas.
