Study On Relationship Of Development Of Economy And Environmental Pollution Index Between Chongqing And The Other Municipalities Directly Under Central Government

With the rapid economic growth since reform and openness in China, a variety of environmental problems are emerging, leading the government to face the environmental protection challenge while developing economy. Therefore, how to promote the coordinated development of economy and environment becomes the key issue in current society. As an old industrial base, Chongqing is also confronted with many environment problems and it is necessary for us to study the relationship between economy and environment, as well as its influencing factors in Chongqing so as to coordinate the development of economy and environment according to the fact in Chongqing.First of all, the author summarizes the research on development of economy and environment, expatiates basic theories of the relationship between development of economy and environment pollution. Then, studying the relationship of development of economy and environmental quality between Chongqing and the other municipalities directly under the central government by means of econometric model and on basis of historical data to find out the medium quantity relationship. While explain the formation reason of the curve in aspect of economics, that is directionally and quantitatively studies such factors as economic scale, industry structure, technique progress, environment policy and so on. Finally, based on the fact and the above result, the paper put forwards some policy suggestions over the continuous development of environment and economy.There are four main parts in this paper as follows:(1) Theoretical analysis on the relationship between the relationship of development of economy and environment pollution.(2) Describe current situation of economic growth and environment pollution in the four municipalities directly under the central government, empirical research on the curve relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution.(3) Directional and quantitative analysis on the external factors' influences over environmental quality, explain the formation reason of the curve.(4) Finally, based on the environmental fact of Chongqing, propose accelerating corresponding strategy and orientation of the policy. From the study of the relationship between development of economy and environmental pollution index in Chongqing and Beijing, Tianjing, Shanghai, we can get following conclusion:There have a little bit much more index in Beijing and Shanghai, which has a typical Kuznets pattern between per capita GDP and environmental pollution.The typical Kuznets pattern is not obvious in Chongqing, the curve relationship presents an alternation of several U and inversed U Curves.
