Rectisol is a kind of gas purification method for eliminating acidic gas from raw gas withmethanol in low temperature. It is widely used in many gas purification processes, especiallyin purifying raw gas of synthetic ammonia, synthetic methanol, city gas and industrialhydrogen. Though the rectisol technology is comparatively mature, some shortcomings alsoexist, such as the high complexity of the process, high energy consumption, and low CO2product. Therefore, the development of a new optimmized rectisol process in both flowsheetand energy saving is valuable and significant.Dalian University of Technology has been engaged in Rectisol process simulation andoptimization for a long time, and successfully explored the Rectisol Processs Simulator (RPS)with an initial simple interface, which can be run in the Windows system.In this paper, software exploitation, test, and application of the interface of RPS wereintegrated。The RPS has been greatly impoved to be a professional engineering simulationsoftware by expanding its general functions and assuring more stable running capability aswell as exact results. At the same time, a rectisol process has been simulated and analyzedwith the novel interface of RPS. Based on the simulation results of the process, someshortcomings are discovered, and an optimization design is carried out, resulting in a newtype ofrectisol process with lower energy cast and larger CO2 product.Many work been performed to improve the initial RPS interface, i.e.,1) Increasing the calculation function modules to satisfy several kinds of unit simulationof the whole Rectisol process;2) Meliroate the mode of calculation operation, increasing results collection function;3) Program running stably and calculated results exact with error checkout and treatment;4) Providing help system to make the study and utility of the software more convenient.The novel Rectisol process is more advanced and reasonable than the old one, and isuntilized in and testified by the actual project. Its main advantages are listed as follows:1) Energy concumption is reduced with optimized technology parameters;2) Maximum and adjustable CO2 yield be provided to transport powder coal;3) Circular methanol is reduced with the less losing of hydrogen and methanol;4) Simplified process and low equipment investment.
