With the rapid development of modern industry and increase of the expendof the coal, petroleum and other energy source, pollution of air environmentby sulfur dioxide has been increasing day by day. Active carbon, coal ash,zeolite and rectorite are used to removal sulfur dioxide in gas of lowconcentration SO2 among this test. In this paper, it is discussed that differenceamong modified active carbon, coal ash, zeolite and rectorite and which arenot modified. At the same time, it is also discussed that feasibility of recoveryand reuse of active carbon which had been used. At last, the mechanism ofdesulfuration is explored and presents rational kinetic model and determinesmodel parameter from mechanism analyses.At the same time,it is systematically studied that the breakthrough curve ofadsorbents were effected by temperature, inlet concentration, adsorbent timeand so on. The experiment showed that at the condition of adsorbenttemperature is 120℃, inlet concentration of SO2 is 2000ppm, velocity of fluxis 1000mL/min, the effective absorption time of unmodified styloid activecarbon is 13min, but after modifying with HNO3,I2and Fe(NO3)3, the effectiveabsorption time is respectively 24min,30min,19min; unmodified granularactive carbon is 28min, but after modifying with HNO3,I2 and Fe(NO3)3, theeffective absorption hour is respectively 54min,75min,48min.From experiment and the research of modified adsorbents, experimentresult indicated that active carbon, coal ash are better adsorbents, theadsorption effect of zeolite and rectorite are not good. The adsorption effectof all modified adsorbents are better than those which unmodified.From the research of active carbon adsorbent regeneration,it is known thatafter regeneration, compare to the first time the effective absorption time ofmodified adsorbent go down.From mechanism analyses, the test result considered that absorption for gas of low SO2 concentration by active carbon adsorbent accords withFreundlich's equation, its express form is q∞=0.186CSO20.147.
