Optimization Research On Drilling Parameter With Downhole Motor

On the base of understanding of the performances of down-hole motors, and the drilling characters with downhole motors, this paper presents a new approach to hydraulic optimization for positive displacement motor and turbine motor. For positive displacement motor, we choose the bit hydraulic horsepower; while coming to turbine motor, we choose the motor horsepower. At the mean time, we also present a new approach to optimization which not only result in improving of the rate of penetration but also in the increasing the operating hours of PDM, there is also an approach to found the optimal WOB for max drilling rate of turbine motor and a new approach to choose liner.This paper summarizes the methods used to calculate hydraulic pressure drop of different rheological patterns including eccentric annulus. The field data accord with calculated result. And we also developed a computer program for hydraulic optimization.
