With the rapid development of robber and plastic industry as well as otherpolymer material industry, greater performance of internal mixer is called for thedemand. The development of synchronous rotor internal mixer can deal with theproblem. As rotors are the soul of the internal mixer, in fact, various researches onmixer are mainly emphasis on rotors. Therefore, the study on new types of internalmixer and those of rotors will be of theoretical and practical value.Based on the influences of geometrical configuration on mixing effects, a newlydesigning method of rotors has been developed. Theories of internal mixer rotorsdesigning have been analyzed. Modeling methods of rotors are generally analyzed,swept molding, a new method is brought forward firstly by the author with theintroduction of 3-D CAD. Using spreadsheet tools, rotors library and all the charactersof the rotors are analyzed. The 3-D shearing-meshing models for static analyses havebeen built. A new way of modeling, designing and analyzing of rotors is developed bythe author.Particularly, the article focuses on mixing mechanism and experimentalcomparisons of rotors' performance, and has got many useful data though mixing treadcompound of all-steel radial tire by using meshing rotors, four-wing synchronousrotors and shearing-meshing rotors in different technologic conditions.The theoretical analyses and experiment results show that:1. Based on reading the influences of geometrical configuration on mixing effects,a newly designing method of synchronous rotors has been developed. Theories ofinternal mixer rotors designing have been analyzed.2. Theories of internal mixer rotors are generally analyzed, especially using softADINA to analyse the theory, for example pressure, speed, conglutination, shear stressand flux parameters.3. Using Solidworks as the tool of molding, using soft Ansys to analyse staticsand the dynamics of the new kind of rotor. After analyzing the stress, check theintension and the distortion. Discuss the critical speed of the rotor, the response of therotor arris firstly. Analyze and account the connatural frequency, the critical speed andfrequency curve. 4. In the same technologic conditions, compared with meshing rotor mixer, thefour-wing rotor and shearing-meshing rotor mixer. It has less power consumption,lower dump temperature and higher dispersion of carbon black. The new rotors canreduce mixing time efficiently and greatly improved the productivity. When the rotorsrun at a lower speed, the physical properties and dispersion degree can attach to a moreideal effect. A conclusion has been drawn that the new kind of rotor has the potentialadvantages in replacing the four-wing synchronous rotors.The results have showed that the new rotor has made the flow of compound in themixing chamber complicated and has the better mixing capabilities of dispersion anddistribution. Mixing effects and the productivity are greatly improved.
