Tartarian buckwheat is a kind of grain with high nutrition. However, the shell of tartarian buckwheat is very hard to be removed with the present grain-shell removing machines due to its tough shell, brittle kernel, small gap between shell and kernel, and three grooves outside. In order to solve the problem in shucking of tartarian buckwheat, the experiments for comparing the parameters affecting the shucking were performed by the emery disc shucking method, wetting-emery disc shucking method and wetting-rubber disc shucking method. The results show that the wetting-rubber disc shucking method is feasible. The technological process is as follows: classifying, soaking, drying the surface water, shucking by rubber-disc sheller, separation, picking by wind and desiccation. Through further tests, the optimized parameter combination was obtained: the soaking time is 7min; the space between upper and lower disks is 2.7mm (grain size 3.6~3.8mm ); the water on temperature is 25℃; the rate of the lower disc is 1092r/min.The ratio of complete kernel and half-complete kernel is 55.3%, more complete comparatively. This method has a wide application prospect on the exploitation of tartarian buckwheat.
