With the ceaseless extent and intensity of human activities, the problems of rockfalls and rockfall hazards become more and more prominent, especially in the mountainous regions. However, study on the mechanism of rockfall and on technology for preventing and controlling rockfall hazards is comparatively backward in our country, and new methods and technology needed badly. Nowadays, the problem of "the black pollution" caused by worn-out tires also becomes more and more serious and has been greatly do harm to natural environment and humanity's healthy. Therefore, the author thinks of making use of worn-out tires to produce new structure for rockfall restraining, including rockfall restraining net of worn-out tires. The new rockfall restraining structure not only is effective on preventing and controlling rockfall hazards, but also can dispose large numbers of worn-out tires, which conforms to the national environmental protection strategy as well as has better economic and social efficiency.From the analysis of the compositive materials and basic mechanical properties of worn-out tire, it can be seen that worn-out tire has good elasticity, high strength and anti-aging property. The properties of tires could definitely satisfy the requirement of rockfall restraining net of worn-out tires for flexibility, strength and durability. To controll rockfall efficiently, the underside of rockfall restraining of wore-out tires can be combined with concrete in slope. Therefore, test study of mechanical property on the interface between tire tread and concrete is launched.To determine reasonable materials and technology for connecting tires rockfall restraining net, simulation test of rockfall impacting catch nets which are connected by steel bars or by screw bolts is progressed respectively. From the contrast and analysis of the tests, it can be seen that the former connection way has high intensity and durableness, but has overlarge flexility and poor restorable property after impacted by rockfall. While, the later connection way has good elasticity and restorable property, but strength is less than the former. Therefore, for the practical connection of rockfall restraining net,the two connection ways need be combined, learning from others's strong points to offset one's weakness.
