On the basis of a summary of some conventional evaluation methods of urban systems and their application in urban systems, some special evaluation issues of urban systems were researched based on Set Pair Analysis and Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process combined with some innovative ideas of the author after a brief introduction of the basic concepts and primary theories of the evaluation of urban systems. The main contents of this thesis are listed as follows:1.Methods of Set Pair Analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process were discussed and analyzed in both theories and application after a summary of conventional evaluation methods and their application results in urban systems.2.A new method of determining the discrepancy coefficient in Set Pair Analysis based on fuzzy degree of connection, in which the discrepancy coefficient i should be analyzed in identical, discrepant and contrary aspects, was proposed. This method was applied to the comprehensive evaluation of urban groundwater resource carrying capacity. The evaluation results are accorded with that of other methods basically. This method is simple, feasible and reasonable and can be applied in other domains.3.In light that Set Pair Analysis often neglect the index weights when applied in urban groundwater quality evaluation, a new model was established based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and Set Pair Analysis, in which the index weights were determined by adopting accelerating genetic algorithm. It was applied in the evaluation of urban groundwater quality. The evaluation results show that it is reliable and reasonable.4. In order to deal with the multi-attribute decision making problems which the decision information is expressed by triangular fuzzy number complementary judgment matrix, a new concept such as the best consistent triangular fuzzy number complementary judgment matrix was proposed and a mathematical model was established correspondingly. The model can be worked out by adopting real coding based accelerating genetic algorithm, and the weight vector of triangular fuzzy complementary judgment matrix can be obtained at the same time. By using an existed ranking formula of triangular fuzzy numbers, the decision alternatives are ranked. The analysis of a computed example shows this method is both feasible and effective. Then the model was applied to the optimization program for urban sewage treatment.5. Some research conclusions were made based on the thesis and a prospect of the future research direction in the evaluation of urban systems was done.
