Along with development of economic and people's living conditions, decorated houses have already been popularized. The using of some new materials, new coating, which emitted many kinds of pollution, has brought severe air pollutions. The air pollutions of decorated houses especially formaldehyde pollution is a widespread and long-range topic, which arouse attention by scientists of Environment Science,Civil Engineering and Medicine etc.The indoor formaldehyde pollution has the features of long-term release,so it is hard to be solved radically. This paper puts forward a solution of using a controlled-releasing chlorine dioxide, which can maintain the indoor chlorine dioxide to low concentration. And chlorine dioxide diffusing in the air can effectively eliminate indoor formaldehyde.Chlorine dioxide has a strong Oxidant Performance. It can react with formaldehyde and become carbon dioxide and water, which are innocuous.Because of low concentration ClO2,ClO2- and ClO3- is harmless to animal, low concentration ClO2 is suitable for using in indoor formaldehyde elimination. In order to probe into the feasibility of using chlorine dioxide for formaldehyde elimination,we experiment on formaldehyde concentration 6 times,4 times, and twice higher than standard, and used chlorine dioxide of various concentrations for treating them.Reviewing all the experiments,we reach the conclusion that low concentration chlorine dioxide can effectively eliminate formaldehyde. We also found that when formaldehyde concentration is 6 times higher than standard it require the release rate should be range from 23.1mg/h to 27.0 mg/h when formaldehyde concentration is 4 times higher than standard the release rate should be range from 12.6mg/h to 27.0 mg/h and the best release rate is 17.4 mg/h when formaldehyde concentration is twice higher than standard the release rate should be range from 6.9mg/h to 19.8 mg/h and the best release rate is 7.2 mg/h.In the study we differently made the controlled-releasing chlorine dioxide preparation of water-absorbent granulose resin(40~80 mesh)and water-absorbent sphere resin(φ≈2mm).Experiment show that preparation made of water-absorbent granulose resin will be invalidated after a period of time as the formed thin interfaced film blocks chlorine dioxide emitting,on the other hand preparation made of water-absorbent sphere resin immune to this phenomenon.Experiment also show that the releasing rate for water-absorbent sphere resin preparation can be divided into five phases:fast decrease period, decrease period, slow decrease period, sudden decrease period, low concentration stable period. We also discover that this preparation has a similar release rule with formaldehyde. So we can consider that the controlled-releasing chlorine dioxide preparation can self-control it's releasing rate and keeping room formaldehyde concentration to a very low level or even zero. From the study, the controlled-releasing equipment can be design for different releasing rates and for different releasing periods, basing on different pollution states and different room space,so far, chlorine dioxide with proper concentration could be used to clean formaldehyde after decorating. It's an effective method for long time release.
