Ytterbium and erbium codoped phosphate glasses can be used in many areas, such as: long optical fibre transmission, laser radar, laser ranging, coherent light transference, military, medical attendance and so on. Researching on this materials would be the hot spot because erbium and ytterbium codoped glasses can be used as microchip laser of 1.5μm and fiber waveguide amplifer host material. The thesis introduces a series of the preparation of Ytterbium and erbium codoped phosphate glasses, for example: single Er-doped, Er/Yb-doped and Er-Yb-Cr-Ce doped experiments. Then using the theories of J-o and McCumber, the influence of changing different components dose ,the absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum are analysed in the thesis.According to these schemes, the fluorescent lifetime of the new Er-Yb-Cr-Ce-dope materials ,0.8×10-20 cm of stimulated emission cross section and the best sensitized concentration of ytterbium ion are showed in the results .
