In order to improve the salt tolerance of cellulose-modified SAP, acrylamide was grafted onto pulp cellulose with K2S2O8 and C7H10N2O2 ,then the graft-product was hydrolyzed. So the hydrophilic groups of this SAP are varied by importing the anionic and nonionic hydrophilic groups into the molecule. The factors affecting absorbency of SAP, such as activation time and concentration, monomers ratio, temperature, content of initiator and cross-linking agent were investigated and discussed in detail. The best water-absorbent conditions of the resin was inferred by researching the pH, temperature, particle size and other factors. Retention capability and regeneration capability of cellulose super absorbent resin also were discussed in this paper. The structure of product was characterized by FTIR,XRD,TG and SEM.The cellulose pretreatment method by the sodium hydroxide and the urea solution has the remarkable influence on cellulose-grafting reaction. It can enhance the reactivity of cellulose. The optimum condition of preparation of water absorbent resin is listed as follow: the quality of cellulose is 3g,the activation temperature is 10h , density ratios of NaOH and CO(NH2)2 is 10%:10%, the activation temperature is 20℃,the dosages of monomer, cross-linking agent , initiator are separately 15g,0.08 g, 0.6 g, reaction temperature is 70℃, hydrolyze concentration is 0.7mol/l. The max water adsorption ratio is 633.33g/g , the max salt-solution absorption and the max Urine-solution absorption ratio are both 133.33 g/g.The Retention capability and regeneration capability of cellulose super absorbent resin are favorable. FTIR shows the water absorbent resin is graft-copolymer of cellulose and polyacrylamide. The XRD analysis proof that the grafting copolymerization occures in the amorphous cellulose and the surface of crystallizing field. The TGA analysis indicates that the initial weight-loss temperature of the grafting-product is higher and the thermal stability of the grafting-product is better than cellulose. The SEM micrographs indicate the surface of cellulose super absorbent resin has small and thick hole and undulant samdwich,so the resin has excellent absorbency and retention capability. The soil with super absorbent polymer can maintain much more water.
