Plain radial drilling machine is widely used in the machinery industry, it is the equipment which is used for the large and medium-sized spare parts' drilling,chambering,Reaming. The object of this paper is a machine which is a special purpose drilling machine for the SAN XIA electric station stand ring's field work drilling,tapping and is used for the hydraulic turbine's installation of the SAN XIA Project .The electrical machine's single capacity of the SAN XIA electric station is about 700,000 kW, it is the world's largest capacity,diameter and the most heavily unit, its design,manufacture and installation is harder than any other large-scale units which have been exited for years in the world. The text combining the actual industrial and mining's environment of the SAN XIA Project, analysis the basic structure of the traditional plain radial drilling machine, and proposed a transformation program for the SAN XIA electric station stand ring's purpose drilling machine.In the design of the drilling machine , we use the idea of moving the horizontal arm and the spindle box which is upon it transversely .The structure of the horizontal arm of the drilling press is designed with left and right arm in the general project. There is a leading screw inside The left horizontal arm , and it drives the whole horizontal arm moved transversely . A driveshaft is fixed inside the right horizontal arm , it is used to transfers the power of the motor which is at one side of the horizontal arm to the spindle box in another side . Three directions of the drilling press are: with installing a sliding block on column, fixing horizontal arm and spindle box on the sliding block and putting driving motor on the left horizontal arm, screw thread driving makes horizontal arm realize Horizontal-direction motion; with fixing vertical screw thread on the sliding block and installing motor on the top of column can make horizontal arm and spindle box up and down in order to meet the demands of Vertical-direction motion; at last, the motion of spindle box is realized by gear driven which is powered by the main motor. The key structure designs of the machine are swinging of the spindle box, locking of the horizontal arm and connecting the spindle box with the horizontal arm.The paper combining the virtual technology and traditional design experience theory finally, using 2D and 3D engineering design software AUTOCAD,Pro / Engineer to do a virtual design,virtual assembly and motion analysis of the drilling machine's key component. To do the equipment design,experiment,modify in a virtual environment, verify the reasonableness of the design, greatly reduced the risk of problems, and optimized the structure, increased design productivity.The main ideas of this paper are some attempt and discussion of application of modern design method for special-purpose equipment design. By the reason of timeless the paper is not very perfect. It is necessary for further check in production. But, it is sure that the modern design in this paper has some enlightenment and reference to design and manufacturing of special-purpose equipment.
