Silicon nitride (Si3 N4) ceramic-balls are being actively considered for high speed precision bearing and valve core of the sealed valve etc because of many superior properties, use more and more extensive. It is one of the key technologies of producing the high- precision ceramic-ball to precision-lapping .The lapping- machine will produce vibration on working. The vibration relates to the state of lapping, and it will influence the precision of the ceramic ball and surface quality too at the same time .Author develop a set of on-line vibration monitoring system of ceramic-ball lapping based on virtual instruments. The relation of vibration signal and the state of lapping, and law of vibration have been found through analyze and study the vibration signal under different state of lapping in real time.First, the principle and hardware of on-line vibration monitoring system based on virtual instruments is introduced in my thesis. The hardware of the system includes impedance heads types 8001 and charge amplifier type 2635 and DAQ type PCI2003 and PC. Then introduced the analysis and processing technology of vibration signal ,and software design of the system in detail. This software was developed base on LabVIEW, the main function of the software includes: Data acquisition, storage, signal analyses and processing, display, data files read and signal redisplay. Last, analyze and study the vibration signal on lapping. The vibration is a random signal while lapping. The relation of vibration signal and the state of lapping ,and the law of vibration have been found, through analyze and study the power spectrum of the vibration signal during the lapping.
