This thesis is mainly composed of two sections: the synthesis of a series of strong-fluorescent hydrotalcite-like compounds and the preparation of hydrotalcite-like compound /polymer composites.Firstly, a series of novel strong-fluorescent hydrotalcite-like compounds (Al-HTLc,Zn-HTL,Eu-HTLc,Tb-HTLc) are synthesized by coprecipitation method. In the samples, the metal ions are dispersed into the hydrotalcite-like layers. Each metal ion is coordinated with ligands which are dispersed into the anions among the interlayer region. The samples are characterized by XRD, XPS, FT-IR, TG-DSC, UV/Vis, fluorescence spectrum, and their composition and structure are determined. The results indicate that the samples can exhibit bright light and strong fluorescence intensity. It shows that the fluorescence quenching effect due to aggregation of irradiant center may be prevented efficiently, because the metal ions are dispersed in layers uniformly. Moreover, the particular coordination structure may increase the asymmetry of irradiant center, would lead to enhance the fluorescence intensity of this kind of material. Additionally, the protection effect of layer structure may also enhance the thermal stability. This series of novel strong-fluorescent hydrotalcite-like compounds may become promising candidates for the luminescent functional materials.Secondly, Eu-HTLc /PMMA composite is produced by emulsion polymerization methods. The results show that the composite exhibits higher thermal stability compared with Eu-HTLc. This method may pave a instructive way to develop the luminescent materials.
