p-methoxybenzaldehyd is an important material for organic and chemical industry, which has been widely used in the chemical and food industry. Some kinds of technologies to synthesize industrially of p-methoxybenzaldehyd have applied to industry. The need of p-methoxybenzaldehyd is more and more, it is very necessary to seek a new process to solve the problem in the production of aromatic aldehyde. As to meet the market demand, measurement of physical and thermodynamic properties related to the process of synthesis of p-methoxybenzaldehyd is base of a new process. The densities and viscosities were measured by a vibrating densimeter(model DA-505U) and a Ubbelohde suspended-level viscometer at atmospheric pressure for p-cresol+methanol,p-cresol+ethylene glycol,m-cresol-methanol,m-cresol+ethylene glycol, tributyl phosphate+n-hexane,tributyl phosphate+n-dodecane, p-methoxyl benzaldehyde+dimethyl carbonate,p-methoxylbenzaldehyde+chloroform. The excess molar volume (VE) and departure of viscosity (Δη) were calculated. The VE andΔηwere fitted by Redlich-Kister equation respectively. The data of solid-liquid equilibrium at normal pressure was determined by a set apparatus using laser monitoring technique. The solubility data of p-hydroxybenzaldehy in water, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% NaCl aqueous solution and 3%, 5%, 8%, 10%, 15% Na2SO4 aqueous solution were measured by using it. Then empirical formula,λh equation, Wilson equation and NRTL equation were used. The result showed empirical formula andλh model could correlate the solubility data of p-hydroxyben zaldehy in different concentration NaCl and Na2SO4 aqueous solution.
