With the widely use of Hard crisp materials such as Hard alloy,Project ceramics,Optical glass,Quenching just and Semiconductor, Grinding is much more important in the field of machining process. But as for the high-hardness, high strength, high brittleness of material, it is hard to meet the requirements of High-precision, high-efficiency by using the traditional grinding process. While the ELID grinding technology combines the dressing and grinding of wheel, using the nonlinear electrolysis to dress the grinding wheel, thus, the phenomena of bluntness and obstruction can be avoided, at the same time, the super-precision grinding of hard and brittle materials is achieved. This paper is focused on the research of special-purpose grinding liquid for ELID, and makes an improvement to the original grinding liquid, thus lays the foundation of further research of the ELID grinding liquid.Firstly, the paper makes an improvement to the original grinding liquid. The author uses the method of electrostatic chemistry experiment,test bench experiment and the actual grinding experiment to research the factors that influence passive films ,then improves the lubrication and clean performance and the stability of the grinding liquid. When this improved grinding liquid is used in the grinding experiment, its grinding efficiency is enhanced remarkably. In order to study the passivation mechanism of the passivating films, the author carries on the pre-dressing and simulate-grind experiment using the simulated test bench, and divides the passive process into several stages by the time, then takes samples in each stage, at last, analyzes the thickness and ingredient of the passive films through SEM.. It is found out that the growth path of the passive films is nonlinear, it grows quickly at first, then becomes slowly at some point, finally maintains in a fixed thickness.Finally, in order to examine the effect of the improved grinding liquid, the anchor does the grinding machine test of Si3N4. The final outcome indicates that the improved grinding liquid has a better effect, the workpiece surface roughness achieves Ra 7nm. In the meantime, it is found that the use of micro-feed can enhance the quality of the workpiece surface and the acoustic emission can help to show the state of the passive films.
