The superfine technology is a kind of high-tech which has been developed in recent years. As a multi-disciplinary high technology, its application in Chinese medicine in the pharmaceutical industry is still at an initial stage, but the unique activity of micrometer TCM has caused great concern.Chinese Angelica is selected as a model drug. Our aim is to improve the characteristic of Angelica tablets by using Angelica superfine powder and new preparation technology. We can also take this research as a guideline to develop new dosage forms for TCM.In this research, Angelica Sinennsis micronized powder was prepared successfully by high pressure pulverizer. The characteristics of the two sorts of powders of Angelica Sinennsis were surveyed with scanning electronic microscope. The particle size distribution was characterized by laser diffraction analyzer. The angle of repose and the bulk density were measured. The dissolution rate of active ingredient of both the two powders was studied. The differences of particle characteristics, surface morphology and dissolution rate between the conventional fine powder and superfine micronized powder were significant. Micronization is proved useful to maximize the utility of Angelica Sinennsis.The optimization of formulation was performed by mixture uniform design and muti-index compositive score method. The hardness of the optimized tablet was about 75N and the disintegrating time was about 10min.The surface was smooth and intact. The formulation is reasonable and the molding of the tablets is good.To study the absorption of Angelica in different intestinal section. Rat evered gut sac system was used. The result is there is no differentamong various section of rat intestine.The Angelica concentritionn sac was increasing according to the time.To establish its quality control standards,qualititive identification of the principal agents were performed by TLC;The content of ferulic acid was determined by HPLC.The linear range was 0.512~102.4μg·ml-1 for ferulic acid; The average recovery was 99.17%, RSD = 1.47%( n=5). The method is simple and accurate. It is suitable for the quality control of micronized angelica tablets.The results of this study showed that after Angelica powder's preparation for tablet is feasible. Superfine technology as a branch of micromeritic technology has infiltrated into pharmacy, for the modernization of Chinese medicines, developing new formulations. Other Chinese medicine superfine grinding and preparations have yet to be further explored with a good prospect.
