The scale in cycle water system is a serious problem, the common method to solve it is that adding chemical scale-inhibitor in, organophosphonate compounds is a widely used scale inhibitor. We prepared a new type and high efficiency scale inhibitor though introduced sulfonate methylene group in amine-terminated polyether. The common method of introducing sulfonate methylene group is that amine-terminated polyether reactions with sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde and sodium hydroxide. The disadvantage of this method is that sulfur dioxide is environmentally harmful one.Hydroxymethyl sulfonic acid sodium is prepared from soldium metabisulfite, methanal and deionized water. It is sulfur dioxide off, high efficiency, and no pollution. The factors that have influences on the yield of Hydroxymethyl sulfonic acid sodium, such as reaction material feeding ratio, reaction temperature, and reaction time are studied by the experiments. The results shows that the optimal technologicalcondition is the molar ratio of soldium metabisulfite and methanal, 1:2.8 ( in mol ); reaction temperature, 80℃; reaction time,1h. Under those conditions, the yield can reach up to 93.07%.Synthesis of hydroxymethyl sulfonic acid as the intermediate of scale inhibitor, high sulfomethylation rate. the results showed that when the dosage was 4 mg/L,at 45℃, inhibiting rate to calcium was 100%.
