A new method to test the outward parameters of slub yarn is introduced in this paper using Visual C++ 6.0 programming language on Windows XP platform. The circle rule of the yarn is tested too. The testing system analyses and paints the outward curve figure and square wave figure to describe the outward shape of the yarn more intuitionistic.The conventional testing way of slub yarn has lower efficiency and lower precision. This system offers a new testing way using computer technology at the basis of conventional way,combining sense organ technique, data acquisition technique,signal processing technique and some software algorithms. With the sense organ to acquire data of the slub yarn's section, getting the digital data after A/D changing and some simple filter processing by DAQ(Data Acquisition Card), the data will be transfered in the computer.The data then will be filtered by signal processing technique to decrease noise signal.Then the boundary between the node and the basis department can be estimated more precisely. It's the precondition of correctly calculating the parameters of slub yarn. The relative parameters can be gotten by combining some conventional methods and programming algorithms. The circle rule of the yarn can be gotten by statistic way. Finally, related figure will be drawn using some controls in Visual C++.At the basis of enough theoretical analysis and tests, the stability of the system is verified and the testing results are correct, within the specified error range. Meanwhile the reasons of the inaccuracy are analysed, and some ameliorating suggestion is put forward.
