Research And Development Of CAD/CAM Integrated System For Integral Cutting Tools Based On Pro/E

The technology of CAD/CAM has been playing an important role in manufacturing field. In order to promote the efficiency of designing Integral cutting Tools author did a lot of study about the CAD/CAM technology and developed an integrated CAD/CAM software system which was supposed to help designer design fixture faster and easier.This paper focuses on the integration method of CAD/CAPP/CAM. The major content of this paper is summed as follow: the system integration methods of CAD/CAPP/CAM for Integral cutting Tools, automatic parameter designing, process planning, auto-generating numerical control code. At last, this paper used the system to design twist drill. And the illustration proves the practicality of this integrated system.In this integrated system, the key technologies are adopted, such as parametric modeling based on feature and information integration. Mathematical models for cutting tools and the grinding motion equation are established and relative database are also founded.This integrated system is based on Pro/ENGINEER, a commercial CAD/CAM software. As development tools, Microsoft office Access2003 and Visual C++6.0 have been chosen.Application of this system, resolves the problem of integration between CAD, CAPP and CAM for Integral cutting Tools. It also reduces repeating work of design staffs, shortens the producing periods of products, and improves economic benefit of enterprise.
