Gynostemma pentaphyllum is a traditional herbal medicine, mainly grows in the south part of china, so it is called "southen ginseng". Gynostemma pentaphyllum is ordinary used as a medicine of diminishing inflammation and detoxification into clinic treatment by traditional iatrology. From the 70s, we have studied the chemical constitutes, pharmacological Actions, toxic reaction, clinic curative effect, production exploitation and etc of Gynostemma pentaphyllum, and got remarkable achievements. Gynostemma pentaphyllum contains ginsenoside and its analogs, and its biological activity has the same effect as ginsenoside .Gynosaponins has sedatives and hypnotics functions, reduction blood fats and so on. At present, Gynostemma pentaphyllum is used as a substitute of ginseng into the business of iatrology, nourishment, cosmetic etc. The wild resource of gynostemma pentaphyllum diffusely distribute in hunan, especially in Shaoyang city, Xiangxi city in the west part of hunan. Lately , there are many areas planting gynostemma pentaphyllum in Shaoyang city and other cities, and got some achievements. For the sake of further advancing the superiority of gynostemma pentaphyllum resource in Hunan and probing for a effective, energy saving, health way of gynostemma pentaphyllum processing, we studied the gynostemma pentaphyllum resource in Suining county, the results as follows:1 The First time using distilled water as solvent, vanillin perchloric acid as chromogenic agent examined the total saponin in gynostemma pentaphyllum under the wavelength 540nm with ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry. Perfected the method of ginsenoside Rb1.The linear regression equation was A=0.0162C+0.0051, R2=0.999 There was a good linear relationship between the absorbance and the concentration within the range from 5μg/ml to 25μg/ml.2 The extract process parameters of GPS were perfected Extracting processing of ethanol: At 90℃, using the concentration of 90% ethanol with 30 times than sample volume, reflux extracted samples 3 times one hour per time. Ultrasonic extraction conditions: socked one hour before extraction, then using the concentration of 70% ethanol with 10 times volume than sample ultrasonic extracted sample one time , 40min.3 The optimal absorption condition of macroporous resin D101 which is used to purify the total saponin of Gynostemma pentaphyllum is as follows: the concentration of saponin of Gynostemma pentaphyllum is about 1.5mg/mL, the speed of elution is 2BV/h. and the optimal elution condition is as follows: the elution solvent is 70% ethanol, the speed of elution is 0.5-2BV/h, and the total elution volume is 4BV.
