At present, the domestic and international researches on Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (RP&M) and Rapid Tooling (RT) only confine to dependability and accuracy and quality of each concrete processing step. But the comprehensive research of RT precision and the dimensional accuracy of rapid die molding products based on RP&M is less. In view of this kind of condition, the process of RT and casting resin products based on RP&M are investigated systematically on the basis of experiments. The advantages and disadvantages of the process of the plaster mould, FRP mould and silicon rubber mould are contrasted and analyzed. The process and key technologies of manufacturing a silicon rubber mould based on RP prototype are investigated, and practical measures and interrelated techniques for improving the accuracy and quality of mould are suggested. Then the rapid casting process of resin products in the silicon rubber mould is investigated. The common defects of casting resin products and the reasons for them are analyzed, and some measures to improve the quality and accuracy of resin products are given.In order to analyze the effect of every factor in RT process on the dimensional accuracy of rapid die molding products, the structure model is put forward and the silicon rubber mould and resin products are made based on experiments. This thesis researches the effects of every factor in RT process on the dimensional accuracy of rapid die molding products on the basis of dimensional data of the final products. It gives the trend of the effect of every factor on the shrinkage of rapid die molding product and analyzes the causation in detail. The dimensional errors of the integral process from RP prototype to the silicon rubber mould and casting resin products are classified and analyzed, and the corresponding improvement measures are given.This thesis regards the integral research of the demensional accuracy of rapid die molding products as the goal, and the accumulation of the dimensional errors of the integral process is investigated on the basis of optimizing various processing links and improving the accuracy of making. In order to improve the dimensional accuracy of products, the corresponding dimension compensation is given on the basis of accuracy closed—loop control theory under RP/RT manufacturing system and proved through experiments.
