As an efficient machining method, NC machining has meet the demand of many varieties lasts and the short cycle of manufacturing, and improved the production efficiency. But the technology of NC machining has a large gap between internal and abroad, which are the low speed in machining and low production efficiency. To improve the efficiency, researches of the key technology of NC shoe last carving machine'control system has been done in the paper. Main contents are as following:(1) The principle of shoe last carving machine has been described. The demand analysis has been given from the calculate speed, capacity of code transmission; shoe last grading and safety aspects, according to the manufacture characteristics of shoe last. In addition, the solving method of development NC shoe-last carving machine by using open NC technology was proposed.(2) According to the requirement of shoe last machine, the hardware platform was constructed based on the UMAC motion controller, and the electrical system was designed.(3) The logic control of NC shoe last carving machine has been realized. The important role of the interlocking control for security in the NC shoe-last carving machine has been expounded. And the interlocking function between protective door on/off and the tool spindle and the interlocking function between fixture clamping and automatic processing has been realized. And other logic control functions have been also discussed in the paper.(4) The method of variable speed of main shaft machining has been studied. The speed of main shaft adaptive change under different sites of shoe last, which greatly improved the effectively, at the same time ensured the quality of shoe last and safety.(5) The main modules of the PC software have been analyzed. The multi-task scheduling management, the communication of the function modules and the communication between PC and motion controller have been studied. Then the PC software had been developed by Visual C++.The efficiency of the NC shoe last carving machine has been greatly improved through the application of this research results.
