Research On Forming Materials And Supporting Materials Of Fused Deposition Modeling

The Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is one of the Rapid Prototyping typical technologies. Fused Deposition Modeling has great value not only in science, but also in the industry application. It refers to mechanics, CNC, macromolecule materials and computer software technologies. The macromolecule materials are very important in the application process of FDM.First of all, the similarity of polymer phase transition is compared between the process of single screw extrusion and FDM. According to that, the molding materials, the break away support materials and the water soluble support materials must have the properties as following: low viscosity, fusion temperature and shrinkage, high material performance, low absorption of moisture and bond strength. Amorphous polymer is taken into account firstly when select suitable modeling material.ABS756 is chosen to research on the process of extrusion and FDM, and analyzed the viscosity phenomenon from the aspect of materials. Then choose the HIPS which have long chains as the temporary modeling material. The HIPS also can be used as the backing of the support materials at the same time. In addition, researched on the extrusion process of HIPS and ABS756, and analyzed the influencing factor of precise extrusion, and made the process of extrusion better.The model of bonding is set up in the process of research on the break away support material. In the process of bonding and diffusion, the support material forms a weaker bond with the modeling material than the modeling material forms with itself. So the supports break away easily. HIPS is choose as the material to modified by blending after the break away support material of foreign is analyzed, the blending can keep the bonding and desquamation balance through adjustment the proportion of HIPS and CaCO3 .Researching on the foreign water soluble support materials, put forward the basic scheme by compounding in laboratory, and basic approach of industry magnify manufacture. Last, from developed condition of FDM in our laboratory at the present time, put forward the improved methods about the materials, mechanics manipulation, process parameter and so on.
