With the development of Internet and the improvement of people living standard, people demand for products that tends to be diversified, personalized, and so on. The modern enterprise have been put forward higher requirements, therefore, designers and manufacturers have to reduce cost, shorten the cycle of product development or manufacturing, and adapt to the manufacturing mode of individuation, diversity, and flexible. The traditional wax production has been far from satisfying for designing and manufacturing of the new product, but rapid tooling manufacturing technology that come from combining rapid prototyping with wax manufacturing can produce all kinds of mold that have the complex shape and high dimensional accuracy. So rapid die manufacturing technology can satisfy to the production of new products.The way of the rapid tooling technology combine rapid prototyping technology based on fused deposition modeling principle with mold manufacturing technology, can quickly produce a mold. But the quality of the mold plays a decisive role on the final casting. Therefore, it is necessary to research the process parameters of mold manufacturing process based on the principle of the fused extrusion deposition.Firstly, this paper analyze the existing rapid tooling manufacturing technology based on the principle of stereo lithography(SLA), selective laser sintering(SLS), laminated object manufacturing(LOM), proposed switch type wax forming based on the principle of fused extrusion deposition modelling, elevated its principle of work, and established the model of extrusion process and forming the wire width, has carried on the theoretical analysis. According to the principle of its working and the mathematical model, we carries on the detailed analysis and design, make the each module of the system, and integrate each module to build a complete the experimental system.Secondly, using the precision casting wax as the experimental materials, the basis of experimental research of line, surface, and body were deposited in the existing experimental system. The experiments verify feasibility and stability of the system. In the experimental process, the critical process parameters(such as: back pressure, scanning speed, extrusion speed nozzle diameter, layer thickness) have importantly effect on the final quality of the forming part were researched and analyzed, and the law of its influence on the final forming quality was obtained.Finally, the samples from the basis of the forming experiment were deeply analyzed and researched. The critical process parameters of the influence on the final forming quality were further explored. Adjusting to the process parameters and further improve forming ability and stability of the system.
