Die and mold manufacturing is typically order-oriented with single-batch but multiple products. In general, the customers'orders are unpredictable and the manufacturing process is unstable, the production plan and the demands of materials are frequently changed accordingly, and the production process is often out of control, which will cause the delivery date and the quality can not be guaranteed; and these problems will bring difficulties for cost control. The mold industry is facing an issue that die cost becomes more and more cheap; and though several times of adjustment, the profit of the die almost gone, and the enterprise even loses money in the business. So cost control is a key factor in the enterprise management; cost-analyzing is an effective way for cost control.According to investigation for die & mould manufacturing, the basic ingredients of mould cost and its calculating methods during processing are analyzed in the thesis; measures are applied to improve cost control and cost analysis during processing. After surveying the features and requirements of cost-control for die & mould manufacturing, the functional requirements and the architecture of cost management system for die & mold are established. Through analyzing relative shop monitoring data and material information, the database structure is determined for cost management; template is introduced into system to achieve the goal of exact cost budget; and cost statistic is implemented based on processing. In addition, cost alert is investigated ground on cost budget, as well as message-based is adopted to share information on time; and all of those make possibility for cost control and statistic analysis.Based on the methods mentioned above, a system was developed upon J2EE and MVC architecture. It has been integrated with EMan (a system for the production management of Die & Mould), and successfully applied in some mould companies.
