Bell-less top charging system has the advantages of improving charging and enhancing gas utilization ratio and so on and has been used on many blast furnaces at home and broad. It easily adjusts burden distribution in furnace and ratio of ore to coke along the radial dirction and determines the distribution of gas, the position and shape of cohesive zone and the properties of the dropping zone. Burden distribution has important effect on the productive efficiency of blast furnace, energy utilization ratio, the quality of hot metal and the life and safe smooth operation. In this paper, in order to exact charging, improving gas utilization ratio and reducing the cost of hot metal on NO. 4 blast furnace of Cheng Gang, the data from the blast furnace is putted into the equations of burden distribution. The heap positions of sinter and coke are obtained from the equations with different parameters. The paper studies the effects of the height of stockline, batch weight, interface effect, gas resistance, friction coefficient of chute, burden size and speed of chute on the charging. The ten results are about the height of stockline, batch weight and the heap position of burden profile. Finally, the mult-ring charging system and centeral coke charging are simply discussed. The characteristic of gas sampling at 5 points is obtained from the quantity of calculations using the data from No.4 blast furnace with the help of theortical calculations. The characteristic is consistent with the average gas component of several months from February to July of 2008. This indicates the characteristic from the charging equations calculation has instructive effect on the actual blast furnace production.
