| Offshore pipelines have been mainly laid by the use of pipelay vessels. Comparing with other pipelay methods, the use of the pipelay vessels has advantages such as good resistance to wind loads, and wide applications and efficiency. In the pipelay vessels there are several special equipments such as tensioners, A&R winches, stingers and dynamic positioning equipments. There is a planned work flow in the deck where pipe alignment, welding, NDE inspection, anodes installation, field joint coating etc are carried out.The thesis mainly includes:1) The kind introduction of Pipelay Vessels: By using a variety of research,conclusion the Pipelay vessel category and classified method that have existed in world now.2) Concept design of the Pipelay vessel:In accordance with the vessel specification,selecting a excellent pipelay vessel as design reference.3) Simulation of the Pipelay vessel :This part is maily based on inputing a hull model that derived from Trbion software into the Catia software and outputting the 3-D simulation model of the Pipelay vessel.4) Procurement of Pipelay vessel 10 equipment:This part is mainly to procure appropriate equipment for the above designed pipelay vessel.5) Stability analysis:Intact stability analysis of the vessel.6) Introdution of the engineering method and pipeline detect technology:By research of this thesis,we can more apply the ship design knowledge intopractice,and more deeply command speciality knowledge and more understanding the working characteristic and main equipment of Pipelay vessel..Now internal ship market more and more need the pipelay vessel because the need of the oil.However now a majority of internal Pipelay vessel is designed by overseas company.
