CTST and F1 floating valve tray are all excellent trays, with advantages and disadvantages respectively. CTST-F1 combination tray is a sort of new type tray, composed of CTST and F1 floating valve. The hydrodynamic behaviors of the CTST-F1 combination tray was measured and valued, which woud provide experimental and theoretical dependence for the structure improvement of the CTST-F1 combination tray.The hydrodynamic behaviors of this CTST-F1 combination tray was studied with air-water system in the cold model column with inside diameter of 570mm. In the condition of the liquid flowing from F1 floating valve area to CTST area, the mean clear liquid height is higher, and gradient of liquid level is smaller. With similar gas rate and mean clear liquid height, pressure drop of the CTST-F1 combination tray is higher than that of CTST, and lower than that of F1 floating valve tray. The more the free area of CTST is, the lower the pressure drop is and the higher the valve hole critical gas rate is. The gas loading upper limit of CTST-F1 combination tray is higher than that of F1 floating valve tray. The gas loading lower limit is lower than that of both F1 floating valve tray and CTST. The operating flexibility of CTST-F1 combination tray is quite good and close to that of CTST.The plate pressure drop of CTST-F1 combination tray was analyzed theoretically, and the half-experience formula for calculating pressure drop was established. The calculated result is almost identical to the experimental data. The calculation method for calculating the entrainment rate is obtained. It can be used to estimate the gas loading upper limit.
