The aqueous polymerization of maleic anhydride(MAH) in the presence of sodium hypophosphite(SHP) and sodium persulfate-sodium hypophosphite redox system as initiator. Polymaleic acid was synthesized as a crosslinking agent for silk fabric, in order to improve the wet wrinkle-resistance performance of silk fabric,By adjusting the proportion of material and process of polymerization, different molecular weight polymaleic acids were synthesized. Characterized the molecular weight of the polymer with gel permeation chromatography and viscosimetry. Disscused the effect of technology on the molecular weight, and the effect of molecular on the wet wrinkle resistance. Compared the application result of DP60 supplied by FMC company with that of polymaleic acid(PMA) that we synthesized. Optimized the application technology by adjusting the factors such as the dosage of PMA, catalyzer, the cured temprature, time, and additives. Mensurated the shade, the strength and the style of the fabric, compared the change between finished fabric and unfinished fabric. Mensurated the fabric index with FTIR, DTA, XRD, and Style tester, analysized the anti-crease mechanism.The result shows that when the material mole ratio MAH: SHP: Na2S2O8 is 1:0.4:0.06, keep the system at 70℃for 4h, then keep at 75~80℃for 2h, the product applied to silk fabric could improve the wet wrinkle resistance performance, and the wet crease recovery angle(WCRA) ladger than that of DP60's. At a certain range, polymaleic acid molecular weight increase along with the increase of the dosage of Na2S2O8. Different molecular weight could result in different wet wrinkle-resistance performance. We found that the WCRA incresed along with the Mv of the polymer.The PMA finishing has little effect on the whitness, shade, strength and style of silk fabric, and the wet wrinkle-resistance performance is durability after washed 30 times. By analysing the results of FT-IR, XRD, and DTA-TG, we found that crosslinking between PMA and silk occurred mainly in amorphous areas. Thermal stability become well after the fininsh.
