Dimethyl dihydroxyethylene urea(DMe DHEU)is a formaldehyde-free anti-wrinkle finishing agent,which is synthesized from 1,3-dimethyl urea and glyoxal.Present products still contain a small amount of formaldehyde which is mainly from glyoxal raw material.The content of formaldehyde in the glyoxal material will affect the free formaldehyde content in anti-crease finishing agent and treated cotton fabric.Present article has prepared DMe DHEU product from the formaldehyde source controlled,and optimized the synthesis conditions to reduce the free formaldehyde content,improved the purity of DMe DHEU product,and further optimized the finishing process.Finally,a new formaldehyde reduction method was introduced in the fabric storage,and a formal anti-wrinkle finishing system without formaldehyde was developed.Firstly,DMe DHEU was prepared by using commercially available industrial grade glyoxal raw material with low content of formaldehyde.The effects of product performance on the wrinkle recovery angle,strength retention rate and whiteness of the treated fabric were studied.The contents of free formaldehyde in DMe DHEU resin and treated cotton fabrics were determined.Secondly,the anti-crease finishing process was optimized,and the wrinkle recovery angle was 248°,a product with excellent application and excellent free formaldehyde content was obtained.Compared with the traditional low-formaldehyde 2D resin,the green anti-crease finishing agent has obvious advantages such as better strength retention rate and less yellowing,especially it contains much lower free formaldehyde.Finally,in order to further reduce the amount of formaldehyde released during the storage and usage of the finished fabric,mesoporous manganese dioxide was also prepared,and combined with activated carbon to catalyze the decomposition of formaldehyde in the fabric storage.The finished fabrics were used for storage experiments,after a certain period of time,the formaldehyde emission and the free formaldehyde content of the fabrics were measured,afterwards the effect of catalytic decomposition of formaldehyde was evaluated.
