In anti-crease finishing of cotton fabric, poly(methylol amide) has been the important finishing agent for long time. Though this kind of finishing agent can increase anti-crease property of cotton fabric, formaldehyde will release in the course of anti-crease finishing. Not only the workers are in poor health, but also the environment is polluted. Furthermore, because the formaldehyde produced in the course of storage and wear of the anti-crease finished fabric stimulates the man's organs, the cancer is maybe caused. The application scope of this kind of finishing agent has been strictly controlled at present.With the idea of environment protection being enhanced, the aldehyde-free finishing agent has been the inexorable trend for development. Polycarboxylic acid is one of aldehyde-free finishing agents which have boundless prospect. Though it has very remarkable finishing effect, BTCA has poor prospects because it is expensive. Though it is cheap, CA difficultly spread application in industrialization because not only it's finishing effect is poor, but also the finished fabric yellows seriously and is poor in wash resistance. PMA is kind of aldehyde-free finishing agent which is cheap and possesses good finishing effect and prospect.The PMA solution was prepared by free radical polymerization with maleic anhydride acting as monomer in presence of peroxide .The polymeric fundamental physical properties such as viscosity and solid content and concentration were measured. At the same time, the process formulation and conditions were optimized in the course of synthesis by orthogonal test. In the process test of anti- crease finishing of cotton fabric, the process formulation and conditions were optimized by orthogonal test and the fabric's properties were measured. Because PMA possesses poor finishing effect compared with 2D and in order to reduce the finishing cost, the finishing agent of composite of PMA/CA possesses good finishing effect in the course of the anti-crease finishing of cotton fabric.The cotton fabric and anti-crease finished cotton fabric were determined.by using Avatar 360 IR,The result shows that cotton fabric has anti-crease property because the finishing agent is crosslinked with cotton fabric by covalent bond.
