In this paper, the post-forging heat treatment process for the common large forging was studied, and the post-forging heat treatment process CAPP system which could be suitable for the large forging was developed. Visual Basic 6.0 was used as the platform for system developing. The system design and the function requirement were determined based on the general idea for software development and the knowledge of post-forging heat treatment. In addition, a process knowledge database was built by using the relational database Access, group technology and a variety of empirical data, as well as process parameter. The structured query language (SQL) was used to achieve the operation of the database, and therefore it was convenient to update various parameters of the data and to manage database. According to the mass transfer equation and the heat flow equation, the module to calculate the effect of dehydrogenase was designed. At the meantime, the ANSYS macro files were established with the help of ANSYS parametric design language (APDL). VB was adopted to call the ANSYS program in the background. The results showed that APDL and VB could help to finish the second development of ANSYS, and then achieved the temperature simulation for the forging heat treatment.From the system operation and the validation of relative modules, it is revealed that the post-forging heat treatment processes CAPP system for large forging could achieve aided design for the post-forging heat treatment of large forging, and had a reasonable process decision-making, as well as a friendly interactive interface, which could make user operate simply and conveniently.
