Kenaf ( Hibiscus cannabinus L. ) belongs to Hibiscus Maliace Dicotyledoneae which is a year of herbal fiber crop. It has high biomass and high rate of CO2 (Carbon dioxide) accumulation. In our country, kenaf resources are rich and used in textile, paper making, man-made board, absorption material and culture medium and so on. The kenaf core is always regarded as processing residues which are burned or discarded. Therefore rational use of Kenaf core can expand new purpose of kenaf stalk and ease timber supply that has an important practical significance. In previous research is about the shape of fibers, paper properties and crushed to make particleboard and fiberboard. This paper main research the basic properties of kenaf core in different parts and use kenaf core directly to make board. So we can know kenaf core deeply and expend its use.Study on kenaf core basic properties and the results as followed:1. Kenaf core has vessel element, fiber, axial parenchyma and ray. Vessels almost are solitary or short tangential multiples (2-5, more2-3). Vessels are roundness or oval on transverse section. Axial parenchyma is large and round arrays (width 5-7 cells). There is no inclusion. It is alternate intervessel pitting and simple perforation, no helical thickenings. Rays are not storied. Most of rays are heterogeneousⅠ. Rays are uniseriate and multiseriate. The height of uniseriate rays is mostly 5-20 cells. The height of multiseriate rays is mostly 20-60 cells. Width is mostly 2-6 cells. Pits between vessel and ray are similar with intervessel pitting. The average length and width of kenaf core fiber is 864.10μm and 30.26μm. The ratio of length to width is 28.55. The wall thickness is just 2.38μm. The wall thickness-lumen ratio is 0.242 and belongs to very thin fiber.2.The air-dried density of kenaf core is 0.095-0.196g·cm-3,average value is 0.155g·cm-3. The density gradually decreases from top to bottom. The kenaf core shrinkage is also a highly anisotropic. Air-died and oven dried shrinkage ratio is longitudinal
