Study On Plunge Shaving Cutter Design And Grind

Shaving is one of the most widely used methods for finishing gear teeth,and the plunge shaving method is a more efficient process for finishing gear teeth.In the mass production of the automotive transmission gears,shaving is still widely used.The shaving processing can be divided by characteristics into axial shaving,plunge shaving, angle shaving,tangential shaving,etc.Because it is easier in the design,manufacture, grinding shaving cutter etc of axial shaving than other finishing methods,the axial shaving is always the most general method of finishing gear being used.With the quality and production capacity of the automotive gear improved,the axial shaving will gradually be replaced by plunge shaving.Compared with axial shaving,plunge shaving is better in the area of production efficiency,production quality,life of tool.But,plunge shaving is inadequate in some aspects.Such as the design and the manufacture of plunge shaving cutter are relatively complex.And the cutter specificity is powerful, there is no general character.It is more difficult in grinding the cutter.Because of the shortages in plunge shaving method,the plunge shaving cutter has certain restrictions in wide application.First,the thesis summarizes the application situation of the plunge shaving method at home and abroad,analyzes the advantages and shortages of the plunge shaving method used to finish gear.Next,starting from the practical application, by using the principle of gear meshing and the differential geometry and mathematical modeling the radial shaving cutter,the design basic parameters,principle of making tooth shape and radial shaving cutter grinding mechanism are studied.Finally,the thesis gives an efficient program of staggered slot.On the base of the principle of grinding the plunge shaving cutter being studied,developed the grinding radial shaving cutter system in VB programming environment on the platform of Windows XP.The system of the grinding radial shaving cutter played a guiding role in practical applications.
