Enhancing efficiency of the beam pumping system and declining power consumption have important significance for increasing oil production, cutting production cost, rising economic benefit and relieving energy supply strain.Efficiencies of the beam pumping system were tested on well site. Theoretical efficiencies and power loss of different parts of the beam pumping system were analyzed. Sensitivity of the test data was analyzed and the main system efficiency influencing factors in later field life were found out. The proper daily electric power consumption, proper electric power consumption of one ton oil in one hundred meters and proper pump efficiency in later field life were suggested. Based on the actuality of the beam pumping system, workable countermeasures were put forward. Experiments were carried out in individual oil well and overall optimization oil well. Effect of the countermeasures was estimated and a whole project to enhance system efficiency was brought forward.The existing balance test and adjustment theories were summarized. A method based on indicator diagram and rod load were brought forward. This method could also help to choose rated power of electric motor. Based On this method, a balancing test and adjustment software was programmed with Microsoft Visual Basic. The software has data input function, analysis function, calculation function, balancing adjustment function and rated power choose function. It was used in well site and acquired relative effect.There is a great quantity of data needed to be handled in well site. In order to ease work load of the technical staff, a production data management system was worked out which could be used to handle great quantity of data. Microsoft Visual Basic was used to compile its foreground program and Microsoft Access for its background program.
