The forming of automobile panel is a typical multi-process problem, but the simulation technology of current sheet metal forming usually aims at the field of Single-process simulation in the formability of automobile panel, so lack of a solution in the entire stamping process of forming. At the same time, the operation of the traditional CAE software is complicated. Also engineers need to have strong FE knowledge. It is also a serious problem that the data is lost in conversion between the CAD and CAE. So develop the CAD/CAE seamless integration system with Complete Stamping Process, which has great practical utility is used in the whole process of automobile panel and metal-covered fields.This research is supported by NSF project "The Independent Research of High-speed Simulation and Optimal Process Design aiming at the Formability of Automobile Panel" (NO.50575080) and National Key Technology R&D Program(No. 2006BAF01A43). During the research process, base on the UG NX/Open development, designed and implemented Complete Stamping Process system with CAD/CAE integrated, which is the China's first true sense of aiming at the automotive and metal-covered fields.In this paper, the status and development trend of CAD/CAE integration has been raised, then UG application development environment and development tools have been introduced. The development framework of UG application have been researched. By analyzing the architecture and design mode of the existing sheet metal forming finite element software, summed up the design principles. In close connection with the actual needs of production,"Top Basic Skeleton"of top-down parameters of the Complete Stamping Process design as the dominant ideology is raised. Also, the key technology such as the parameters of the virtual assembly technology, Process Manager, UDO Database and UDO data associated with the UG model and so on has been solved, last implementation of all functions of the system.Forming Analysis Wizard based on UG NX is a Complete Stamping Process system with CAD/CAE integrated, operating style is consistency with UG NX. The system considering real influence of friction, holding force, drawbead and the other actual process conditions, can simulate the effects of gravity, pressure-process simulation, drawing, Trimming, Flanging, Springback and so on. Last through the simulation of typical automobile panel and progressive die, validate the Complete Stamping Process and parameters of the characteristics, also the accuracy and practicality is proved.
