With the rapid development of machinery industry, the numerical simulationtechnology is widely used in the field of design and manufacture of stamping. Theenterprises demand for rapid stamping design and analysis is not met caused by the mutualcompatibility problem of traditional independent CAD/CAE software, and CAE analysisefficiency relies heavily on analysts’ practical experience, which makes enterprisesdifficult to achieve CAE-driven design process. Therefore, the development of CAD/CAEintegrated sheet metal forming parametric simulation system for designers, not only canimprove the application efficiency of forming simulation software for engineering andtechnical personnel, also can enable enterprises to respond quickly to market demand forrapid manufacturing, and has important significance on improving the quality of stampingproduct and reducing the development cost.The research of this thesis is supported by NNSF(National Nature ScienceFoundation of China) project "Research on Fast numerical analysis model and keymethods in the strip layout of Progressive die design for complicated AutomotiveStructural Parts"(NO.50905067). A new sheet metal forming parametric analysis systembased on SolidWorks is developed, achieves parametric CAE analysis and a real sense ofCAD/CAE seamless integration.In this paper, the status and development trend of sheet metal forming numericalsimulation, CAD/CAE integration technology has been raised, and combined with theenterprises demand for rapid stamping design and analysis, the author puts forward thegeneral goal and achieves detailed design of system integration, function and datastructure. And some key techniques of the system development were emphatically studied,such as virtual assembly based on OpenGL, parametric updating and the contrast optimumof the process parameters. The SW-FAX system was completed combined with the solverbased on the BT shell element and dynamic explicit FEM code.According to the complex tool assembly process and difficulty in animationsimulation existed in the traditional CAE software, based on parametric tool mesh model,a new virtual assembly method is put forward. This method achieves rapid assembly of multi-tool and animation simulation of forming process by virtually displaying the tools’mesh. By using parametric modeling technology of SolidWorks and parametric tool meshmodel based on facet, parameterization between blank mesh and tool mesh, betweendesign model and analysis model, and among process parameters are achieved, whichensure the synchronization of product/process design and forming simulation. In addition,a new automatic optimization method is put forward. Finally the robustness and accuracyof developed system is verified by parametric application in forming simulation of ovencover and comparison between the simulation and experimental results, and the fullprocess simulation of the base beam of automobile body explains the system’s simulationflow.
