As China's major oil fields have come into the mid or high watery exploitation period, Enhancing liquid production is necessary in order to ensure stable and high-yielding production so that mechanical energy costs of oil extraction system can be increased dramatically. Pumping well system occupies a large proportion in the mechanical petroleum production system, therefore, improving the bad working characteristics of pumping wells system and low system efficiency become the urgent key to ensure yield and reduce the production cost .This paper presents a theory of optional operation of rod-pumping wells which improves the operation scheme of the pumping well and pumping well itself. The working state and the pumping well's system efficiency can be improved by this theory.According to the structure of pumping unit, the paper establishes mathematical model of pumping well's movements and dynamic analysis, and analyzes the relationship among suspension point's motion factor, reduction gearbox output torque and motor input power. Analysis of the changes in parameters of pumping wells when pumping unit with variable speed has also been made.A control model of optional operation of rod-pumping wells has been built, by which researchers can derive the quantity of state of the rod-pumping wells only by detecting pumping unit'motor power and inputting a number of commonly used data of pumping wells condition. By regulating the operation parameters of pumping wells, we can make the pumping well work in the optional working interval of the system efficiency.With the help of Visual Basic 6.0, software of optimal operation of rod-pumping wells has been developed and practical software has been compiled. To verify the above-mentioned theory's practicality and accuracy, a number of simulation and field tests of several functions have been taken .The researches done in this article have provided the reference for the intelligent controlment of the pumping unit well, and are of great importance and theoretic significance and applicable value to enhance the operation quality of rod-pumping wells.
