Open architecture CNC system had become an important trend of NC technology. The purpose of studying open architecture CNC system is to build a modular, reconfigurable and expandable control system to enhance the flexible of functions, to allow users to do succession and election depending on their need, to change or extend the system functions, and to quickly adapt to the needs of different applications.Firstly, the concept of open architecture CNC system is discussed, the development of status is described, the trend of open architecture CNC system development is pointed out, and then several structures of open CNC systems PC based is discussed, structural feature of its various systems is analyzed ,and then Hierarchical-type PC-based CNC System is set up.Secondly, the principle of turn-milling processing is discussed, the trend of development is analyzed, the main features and a variety of turn-milling kinematics are described. Analyzed the characteristics of the various of turn-milling processing, the structure of radial turn-milling is used and a detailed discussion is dealt with. And then a specific analysis of structural characters of the CNC turn-milling machine tool is described, and a detailed analysis of the motion characteristics of CNC turn-milling is discussed. At the same time the types of parts of processing are described.Based on the study of hardware structure of CNC turn-milling, the working principle of motion controller is analyzed, characters of performance are discussed, characteristics of the structure of the entire system's hardware are described, as well as communication with the host; in the aspect of the software development, a systematic research is described on system architecture, the underlying principle is analyzed, design of software interface and functional structures are designed. In the designing of software interface, windows is used as system software platform, and then multi-tasking simultaneously is discussed, parallel processing is described, interrupt handling which belonged key technical problems also is described, For designing in the structural functions, making use of Visual C + + specific studied on the real-time control functions and function modules of systems management, designing and description in the detail for each module are done.The test is first conducted on the experimental platform, and then conducted on turning-milling machine tool in order to prove that the feasibility of numerical control system.
