The final product bis(5-brominesalicylal)ethylenediimine copper (salicylic Schiff base chelates) was synthesized by using salicylaldehyde, ethylenediamine and liquid bromide as initial reactants and through the intermediate of 5-brominesalicylal, bis(5-brominesalicylal)ethylenediimine. Then these complexes were characterized by the IR,~1HNMR, MS and other analytical tools in turn.The reaction temperature, reaction time and reactant ratio and other factors were studied by single factor experiments and orthogonal test. The best synthetic conditions were obtained by optimizing the synthesis route of some intermediate.through the qualitative test of the simple fire extinguishing device, the extinguishing mechanism was achieved by oxygen consumption and isolating fire from the air. In addition, The DSC test showed that decalescence was one factor of extinguishing fire during the decomposition of the bis(5-brominesalicylal)ethylenediimine copper, Which proveed that the bis(5-brominesalicylal)ethylenediimine copper had an effect on fire extinguishing.
