This paper focuses on superfine particles fire extinguishing agent of Class D,studying the potential applications for industrial and laboratory automation fire extinguishing systems. Some researches have been made on the formulation design of superfine particles fire extinguishing agent of Class D,the surface modification of superfine particles sodium chloride and silica.At the same time, some fire extinguishing tests are carried out according to the fire extinguishing agent.The material is common sodium chloride for industry,ultrafine treating by planetrary ball mill.The D50 of superfine particles sodium chloride is about 10μm. Surface treatment was carried out on ultrafine sodium chloride and silica by SHR series of high-speed heating mixer using dimethyl hydroxyl cotionic silicone oil as surface modifier.The surface treatment effect was evaluated by hygroscopicity, hydrophobic, bulk density and fluidity, combined with SEM and laser particle sizer. Ultrafine sodium chloride after surface treatment was used as major extinguishing ingredients, with hydrophobic silica, mica powder, talcum powder and activated clay as additives. D-class ultrafine particle extinguishing agent product was prepared by SHR Series of high-speed heating mixer, and the minimum fire dosage of the extinguishing agent was determined by portable extinguisher method. Simultaneously, the extinguishing agent was also used in the simulation of automatic fire extinguishing experiment using self-designed Suspended hood automatic fire extinguishing system, the temperature field while extinguishing was measured. The results show that,while the surface treatment on ultrafine Sodium chloride under the modified temperature of 65℃, mixing up water of 2 times the volume of silicone oil and silicone oil of 3.5 percents the weight of sodium chloride, injecting them into materials.keeping stirring for 80 minutes can obtain the best surface modification effect. While the Preparation of hydrophobic silica under the Modified temperature of 65℃, using silicone oil of 25 percents the weight of silica and water of 40 percents Weight of silicone oil, keeping stirring for 60 minutes can obtain the best surface modification effect; while the local fire test with portable fire extinguishers, the minimum fire dosage of the D-class ultrafine particle extinguishing agent preparated on this paper while fighting the 25g magnesium flame is 180g.the best extinguishing effect occurred while they are used in suspended hood automatic fire extinguishing system.
