In the heavy plate rolling process, the temperature is an important production process parameters, a direct impaction on the dimensional accuracy of products, mill load distribution, changes in the microstructure of metal and rolled products mechanical properties. When the plate temperature difference along the width direction is too large, it is easy to cause the direction of rolling along the width of non-uniform mechanical properties. Therefore, the research of the temperature distribution in the heavy plate rolling process along width direction has important theoretical and practical significance.Based on the basic knowledge of temperature field, this article introduced the widely used three basic laws in temperature field—Fourier's law, Newton's cooling formula and Stephen - Boltzmann's law of thermal radiation, and then introduce a temperature field to solve the process set up all necessary conditions and solution method, while on the subject of commercial software used MARC at solving the temperature field has made a brief introduction.Secondly, analysised the the main impacted factors of temperature field, such as air-cooled, high-pressure water and phosphorus removal, reduction, rolling speed, etc., and based on the formula derived generous plate of the mathematical model of temperature field. Considering the elastic deformation of work roller and the elastic-plastic deformation of plate, based on the large-scale commercial software MARC, set up a rolling temperature field finite element simulation model and verify the accuracy of this model.Then, the use of finite element software MARC, simulated Heavy Plate Mill at finish rolling in some cases under the rolling direction along the width of the temperature distribution, such as air-cooled, high-pressure water and phosphorus removal, reduction, rolling speed, plate material , the width of plate, friction coefficient, the main analysis are reduction, rolling speed, rolling pieces of material, rolling friction coefficient of the width and breadth of the direction of rolling temperature, and the impact of factors in different heavy plate along temperature distribution in the width direction.Finally, to compensate for the edge temperature along the width direction, the installation of induction heating devices, and simulate the heating effect. Comparison of the availability of induction heating, rolling force and the plate crown along the width direction, describes the feasibility of edge induction heating.
