The adhesion properties of size affect the physical and mechanical properties of the sizing, determine the numbers of the sizing add on and it will affect the efficiency of looms and fabric quality. So this performance is one of the most important performances of size, the test of the performance have got more and more people's attention and a variety testing methods have been proposed. After many years of research and practice, People gradually recognized that the roving method is a common method to test size adhesion, it is able to reflect the adhesion properties of size in a certain degree. But the test results show that the roving method is not comparable and it can't reflect which size is better after testing size adhesion of different size, because the sizing add on is not the same when different kinds of size are sized on the same roving or the same size are sized on the different roving even in the same conditions. In addition, due to the saturation sizing, it made a great negative impact to the results of size adhesion test so that superfluous rates of sizing caused superfluous cohesion of the size, and we even can not correctly get the adhesion of size from the test results. While the "contrast adhesion" method is not scientific either, because plenty of experiments prove that sizing roving tensile strength and sizing rate is not linear relationship.The problem of different sizing add on in the roving method can be eliminated by taking necessary technical measures. To solve this problem I propose two kinds of ways. The first one is changing comparison of points into comparison of lines. The steps are preparing ladder-type size concentrations for sizing roving in the original method, measuring sizing rate and breaking strength, drawing curves and then comparing them, this method is certainly accurate analysis of the relationship between the pros and cons of different size, but it is more complicated. Another one is increasing the quantitative sizing device to determine the rates of size, giving a fundamental solution to the problem of different rates on different size.Roving precise sizing device is designed and developed to measure the size adhesion, which comes from the principle of the yarn micro-sizing technique, and it is designed to quantitatively accurate sizing of the roving. The device has four main components: transmission parts, heating temperature control parts, sizing part and the speed control part. Through the four parts accurately matching the quantitative sizing can be achieved.After a series of preliminary experiments and failures a set of design is finalized: the part of drive combine with synchronous transmission belt drive and screw drive; the part of heating temperature-controlled is composition of the electric heater, temperature sensor, temperature controller; the part of speed control use the inverter to control the motor speed and the left-right switch to control the movement directions; the part of sizing use the quantitative pump to input size, use the thermostat bath to ensure temperature, use the special gripping roving frame to ensure the process of deformation-free elongation. It is not only necessary to play the role of the various components, but also to ensure the operational safety and ease to use, in achieving the intended purpose of the case as far as possible to simplify equipment design and assembly, so that less device failures, high-performance and easy operation.According to the precise sizing device operating parameters of the relationship between the various components a formula is educed. Through the experimental analysis of the original roving method the parameters such as the sizing add on, rate of mixing concentration, sizing temperature, etc. are determined. And then the most important parameters are analyzed from the formula and the actual sizing requirements. Ultimately the best operating parameters are found out in the experimental way.By experimental verification and comparison with the original roving method demonstrate that the sizing add on of the roving method increased the precise sizing device can be controlled, the test results is more comparable, and the flaws of the original roving method can be fundamentally overcome.
