Since arable land constraints and less oil resource, the new regenerated cellulose fiber as textile material has to be developed. In China, bamboo resources is rich relatively scarce timber resources, so develop the bamboo pulp fiber is a effective method to make full use of natural cellulose materials. Bamboo pulp fiber is a new type of regenerated cellulose fiber, which has fineness and whiteness close to viscose fiber. And also have properties of higher strength, stable, homogeneous, higher toughness, higher wearability, excellent spinnability and so on.Bamboo pulp yarn has been initially industrially produced, but the systemic research of theories about bamboo pulp yarns is just starting, and deeply basic research is scarce. Also the product development based on these is lack.So this paper mainly study on the basic properties of bamboo pulp fiber, the structure of bamboo pulp regular ring yarns, compact yarns, MVS yarns and sirospun yams, the mechanical properties of these yarns and the wicking properties of bamboo pulp yarns. The following conclusions can be obtained from experimental results.1. Bamboo pulp fiber is skin-core structure. There are grooves in vertical and sawtooth-shaped cross section. Bamboo pulp fiber has good hygroscopicity, which less than viscose fiber and close to Modal fiber. Higher mass specific resistance than viscose fiber and Modal. For breaking strength and initial modulus, bamboo pulp fiber is close to viscose fiber, but lower than Modal fiber. Bamboo fiber has Lower breaking elongation than viscose fiber, which is higher than Modal fiber.2. The research on performance of new types of yarn shows, the high-twist yarn and Sirospun yarn are more evenly than the ring yarn, the evenness of MVS yarn is poor. MVS yarn has the lowest number of hairiness more than 3mm. The cross section shape of bamboo pulp yarns is elliptical. For bamboo pulp MVS yarn, bamboo pulp fibers transfer into the yarn, and cotton fibers transfer out of the yarn, which are contrary to compact and sirospun yarn.3. Bamboo pulp regular ring yarn, compact, and sirospun yarn have better breaking strength than MVS yarn. New yarns including compact, MVS and sirospun yarn have rebound elasticity. The result of measuring stress relaxation property shows that, when the deformation is 30% of breaking elongation, the stress of bamboo pulp compact yarn relaxed most, the second was sirospun yarn, and MVS yarn was the lowest. Bamboo pulp regular ring yarn, high-twist yarn and compact yarn have better wearability than MVS yarn.4. Yarn structure has significant effect on the wickabilty of bamboo pulp yarns. Bamboo pulp regular ring yarn has the best wickabilty, and compact yarn second place, MVS yarn is the third. Linear density has no significant influence on wickability. For each structure of bamboo pulp yarn, there is a critical twist, when the twist of yarn is lower than which, the equilibrium height increased with the twist. When the twist is higher than the critical twist, the equilibrium height decreased with the twist.
